Dolphins WR Tyreek Hill Hints at Exit from Miami: ‘I’m Out’

Are Tyreek Hill’s Days in Miami Coming to an End?

Dolphins star wide receiver Tyreek Hill may be considering his future away from Miami. Following the team’s disappointing loss to the New York Jets on Sunday, Hill hinted that he might be open to exploring opportunities with a new team next season.

“This is my first time not making the playoffs,” Hill told reporters after the game. “I just have to do what’s best for me and my family. Whether that’s here or somewhere else, I’m keeping my options open. I’m out, bro. I’m opening that door for myself.”

Hill expressed gratitude for his time with the Dolphins but made it clear he prioritizes his career trajectory. “It’s been great playing here, but at the end of the day, I’ve got to make the best decision for my career. I’m too much of a competitor to just be out there without a shot at success.”

Despite playing all 17 games this season, Hill struggled with a lingering wrist injury and fell just 41 yards short of his fifth consecutive 1,000-yard receiving season.

“There are a lot of things I need to reassess for my career,” Hill stated, noting the impact of quarterback Tua Tagovailoa’s absence. “I need to figure out what I need to do to keep improving and get back to hitting that 1,000-yard mark. It is what it is.”

Hill had a quiet performance in Sunday’s game, catching just two passes for 20 yards before leaving the field in the fourth quarter. Head coach Mike McDaniel later said that Hill hadn’t suffered a new injury, but he was informed that Hill was unavailable to return.

Although Hill, now 30, stopped short of formally requesting a trade, he fueled speculation with a social media post on Sunday night that seemed like a farewell message:

“Love Fin Nation. Blessings to y’all. You opened doors for the Hill family forever. Nothing but respect and love.”

When asked about Hill’s comments, McDaniel avoided jumping to conclusions. “I’m not putting too much weight on postgame statements made in the heat of disappointment,” McDaniel told reporters. “We’ll have conversations in the coming days and see where things stand.”

Despite the uncertainty surrounding Hill’s future, the Dolphins have confirmed that both McDaniel and general manager Chris Grier will return for the 2025 season.

Hill’s current contract runs through the next two seasons, with salary-cap hits of $27.7 million in 2025 and $51.9 million in 2026, according to OverTheCap.

Hill’s potential departure would mark the second major move in his career. In 2022, he requested a trade from the Kansas City Chiefs, leading to his move to Miami. Since then, the Chiefs have secured two Super Bowl titles and remain the top seed in this year’s playoffs. Meanwhile, the Dolphins’ playoff hopes ended with their recent loss, and Hill is coming off his least productive full season since his rookie year.

While Hill’s future remains unclear, one thing is certain: he’s looking for a team that matches his competitive drive and desire to win. Whether that will be in Miami or elsewhere remains to be seen.
